Discover one of Eindhoven’s most unique places for graffiti and murals: De Berenkuil. Located near the Eindhoven University of Technology, the IJzeren Man open-air swimming pool and the Wasvenhoeve, De Berenkuil is a must-see for art lovers and street art fanatics.

The Berenkuil consists of tunnels that you can explore on foot or by bike, and resembles a real arena. These bicycle tunnels cross the road from Eindhoven to Helmond. The walls of the tunnels are covered with beautiful works of art, often with current and colorful themes. It is completely legal for the artists to create their works here. Until 2024, the ‘Step in the Arena’ festival took place here every June, where renowned graffiti artists from all over the world came together. New artworks can appear every day, making De Berenkuil a vibrant and ever-changing open-air museum of graffiti.

The origins of De Berenkuil date back to 1973, when the walls of the tunnels were grey and gloomy. To spice up the atmosphere, local community members invited graffiti artists to transform the walls. It turned out to be a huge success, making De Berenkuil a legal and popular place for graffiti artists.
