This enchanting estate has a rich history dating back to the 12th century, when it served as a Benedictine monastery. For many centuries, the monastery functioned as a spiritual and agricultural center, with extensive farmlands, orchards, and even a brewery.
In the 19th century, the monastery underwent a transformation into a beautiful estate, which was given the name Eikenburg. Several buildings were added, including an impressive neo-Gothic chapel and a stately mansion, which can still be admired today. Over time, the estate was transferred to the municipality of Eindhoven.

The former monastery has recently been renovated and now houses apartments of a housing association, where the care of the estate has been transferred to this association and the residents. Despite the renovation, some brothers still live in one of the wings of the monastery.
