Gennep, a centuries-old hamlet near Eindhoven between Gestel and Stratum, is steeped in history. The name refers to the confluence of two water streams, the Tongelreep and the Dommel. Similar to Limburgs Gennep, where the Meuse and the Niers meet. The hamlet once consisted of six farms, of which the Genneper Hoeve still stands. Agriculture has been practiced here for more than a thousand years.

The area is steeped in old names such as De Uil, the Turfveld, and the Steenakker, and is reminiscent of former residents such as ‘the meadow of Van Deurse’ and ‘Huize Pennings’.

The Genneper Hoeve is now a thriving organic, dynamic, nature-inclusive recycling company. Owner Mirjam Matze, with a background in anthroposophical nutrition, likes to share her passion for nutrition and agriculture. Her co-owner, Age Opdam, a laude graduated biologist, shares the same passion for sustainable agriculture in harmony with nature.

Visitors can view the cows in the stables, take a look at the cheese factory and shop in the in-house shop with organic products. In addition, they offer educational opportunities, with Mirjam sharing her passion for anthroposophical nutrition and Age applying his expertise in biology to the landscape. The Genneper Hoeve remains a vibrant center of ecological innovation and sustainable agriculture in Eindhoven.

During the E-Fatbike tour Nature and villages you will pass the Genneper Hoeve.
