Once a Philips industrial area in the Strijp district, Strijp-S has grown into a vibrant and creative part of Eindhoven, and is now one of the city’s most important hotspots.
From 1916 to 2000, Strijp-S was the heart of Philips’ industrial activities. Due to the expansion of Philips and the growth in the number of employees during the First World War, Strijp-S grew rapidly. The area, originally accessible only to Philips employees, was known as “the forbidden city”. In addition to the historic factory buildings, such as the Klokgebouw and the NatLab, other buildings were later developed on sites such as Strijp-T and Strijp-R .
Today, Strijp-S is the bustling center of Eindhoven, where a mix of activity and creativity reigns. Notable additions to the skyline include the Trudo Tower, with its unique vertical forest on each floor, and the urban sports center Area51, where BMX riders and skaters show off their skills.
Mainly (high) residential towers and commercial buildings are now being built, and fortunately you have also seen special new buildings being built lately.
In the buildings at Strijp-S you will find various shops, eateries and cultural hotspots. The Veemgebouw houses a small food hall and a brewery with tasting room, while the Urban Shopper in the Anton building is a paradise for shoppers. For music lovers , Strijp-S offers options ranging from pop stage Popei to medium-sized concerts in the Klokgebouw.
Every month, the FeelGood Market takes place in the Ketelhuisplein, inspired by the markets in Ibiza, where local artisans sell their wares. Strijp-S continues to evolve with more and more shopping, dining and entertainment options, keeping it a vibrant and diverse destination in Eindhoven.
