The Hovenring is an impressive bicycle roundabout that floats on cables attached to an imposing pylon. This architectural gem not only looks futuristic, but also plays an important role in the safety and mobility of cyclists. <\/p>\n

For cyclists, an elevated roundabout has been created here in a unique and aesthetic way, completely separated from the underlying roads for cars and without the need for traffic lights for cyclists.<\/p>\n

Construction of the Hovenring began in May 2011, and although the roundabout was opened to traffic six months later, there were some initial problems due to a minor design flaw. After a short closure, the roundabout was finally fully opened to the public on 29 June 2012. <\/p>\n

The construction includes an impressive pylon 70 meters high, supported by 24 cables, and has a diameter of 75 meters.<\/p>\n

Some compare the Hovenring to an upside-down bear pit, because of the contrast between cycling up the Hovenring and descending into a traditional bear pit. Both locations are appreciated for their own unique characteristics: the Hovenring for its technical masterpieces and the Berenkuil for its creative and free atmosphere. <\/p>\n
