Once a Philips industrial area in the Strijp district, Strijp-S has grown into a vibrant and creative part of Eindhoven, and is now one of the city’s most important hotspots.<\/p>\n
From 1916 to 2000, Strijp-S<\/strong> was the heart of Philips’ industrial activities. Due to the expansion of Philips and the growth in the number of employees during the First World War, Strijp-S<\/strong> grew rapidly. The area, originally accessible only to Philips employees, was known as “the forbidden city”. In addition to the historic factory buildings, such as the Klokgebouw and the NatLab, other buildings were later developed on sites such as Strijp-T<\/strong> and Strijp-R<\/strong> . <\/p>\n Today, Strijp-S<\/strong> is the bustling center of Eindhoven, where a mix of activity and creativity reigns. Notable additions to the skyline include the Trudo Tower<\/strong>, with its unique vertical forest on each floor, and the urban sports center Area51, where BMX riders and skaters show off their skills.
