Bicycle bridge Tegenbosch is an example of innovative infrastructure that strengthens Eindhoven’s reputation as a bicycle-friendly city. This bridge over the highway to the Brainport region near Eindhoven Airport offers a unique experience for cyclists. With a length of 130 metres, the bridge spans no less than 14 lanes and is 7 metres above the road surface at its lowest point. The narrowest point of the cycle path is 5 metres wide, while the arch above the bridge at the highest point is 21 metres above the cycle path.
Like other iconic cycling infrastructure in Eindhoven, such as the Hovenring, the Tegenbosch Bicycle Bridge is also equipped with dynamic lighting. The lighting on the bridge is divided into two parts: the arch and the bridge deck. The color and intensity of the lighting are constantly changing depending on the cyclist’s speed and location.
To reach the bridge, cycle from the center via Strijp-S through the Philips de Jongh walking park and turn left at the end of the cycle path towards Eindhoven Airport. Especially at night, the bridge offers an impressive experience, when the lighting comes into its own and brings the bridge to life.
