Welcome to the Blob, an iconic and futuristic building located on the 18 Septemberplein in Eindhoven. Designed by Italian architect Massimiliano Fuksas, the Blob stands out against the traditional surroundings with its striking and whimsical shapes. The name “Blob” stands for Binary Large Object, referring to the complex and idiosyncratic structure of the building, which is reminiscent of a jumble of data in the computer world.

The Blob acts as the gateway to the Admirant shopping center and also houses a cozy lunchroom where you can enjoy the beautiful view of the 18 Septemberplein and the iconic Philips Light Tower across the street.

As an integral part of Eindhoven’s skyline, the Blob has become a popular gathering place for locals and visitors alike. The 25-meter-high building, consisting of a mix of steel and glass, forms a harmonious fusion of old and new Eindhoven, with the historic Philips Light Tower on the other side.

On the other side of the 18 Septemberplein is a smaller building called the Bubble, with a similar design of steel and glass, but designed by a different architect. Between these buildings is an underground bicycle tunnel, designed by Fuksas, which provides access to a bicycle parking area with space for no less than 1700 bicycles.

With its innovative architecture and forward-thinking designs, de Blob contributes to Eindhoven’s reputation as the design city of the Netherlands.
