The Karpendonkse Plas, located in the charming Tongelre district of Eindhoven, is a beautiful water feature next to the well-known open-air swimming pool De IJzeren Man. This lake was created by sand extraction for the high railway, creating a connection to travel more easily from north to south Eindhoven. The released water soon transformed into an idyllic recreational area, complete with a picturesque island in the middle and a lush environment of conifers, oaks, poplars, birches and alders.

The Karpendonkse Plas offers a range of recreational opportunities, from relaxing on a blanket to sailing a boat. Although swimming in the lake is not allowed, cooling off is within reach at De IJzeren Man, located across the street, where swimming is allowed.

Every year, various events take place around the lake, including the prestigious Concours Hippique International (CSI), which attracts equestrian sports enthusiasts worldwide and attracts around 80,000 visitors every year. Well-known names are often among the participants or spectators.

Restaurant Charlie has also opened a beautiful restaurant which is located in a beautiful long-gable farmhouse on the Sumatralaan. With a delicious lunch or dinner you can enjoy a breathtaking view of the Karpendonkse Plas.
